Welcome to your very own local market store. We search high and low to bring you the very best selection we can find of fruit, veggies, local and national produce - and we're always on the look out for interesting and healthy products, supporting local producers and growers wherever we can. If you have comments to share with us about our products or have an idea for something new then just talk to us when you next visit - we're always happy to hear your feedback.
Look out for our in-store tastings and demos - there's always something to try and you might also learn something new.
Here are some of our regular products on offer, and some of the more unusual ones you might want to try...
New potatoes mean the days are getting longer and we can look forward to the warmer weather. With their thin papery skins and waxy texture - tossed in butter and some mint - bingo!
The asparagus season does not last long so make the most of these delicate spears in your spring meals while you can. Blanched, steamed, griddled, roasted or even raw some of the best accompaniments for asparagus are olive oil, a little butter or for the adventurous a hollandaise.
Thin spears of asparagus are younger and fresher in flavour. The thicker spears will have been left to grow for longer and have a stronger flavour.
Can't have a grocery store that doesn't stock apples! - especially here in the apple-growing heartland of NZ. Multiple varieties - from eating crunchy and fresh, to stewing for a healthy breakfast or layering in a pie.
The purple colour comes from anthocyanin, which may help prevent heart disease by slowing blood clotting. Either way, it is so beautiful added to a salad to make your plate sing with joy.
My French brother-in-law loves to serve his radishes with butter. Simply whip 8 tablespoons of butter until light and fluffy. Place in a small bowl for serving and some sea salt in another. Top and tail the radishes and arrange on a platter.
The versatile yet humble mushroom - lends any savoury dish an extra dimension and is great for giving vegetarian dishes some oomph. Chop roughly, sauté in some Lewis Road Creamery Butter and sprinkle with Neudorf Mushrooms Dried Mushroom Powder to really lift the flavour, then stir into cooked pasta.
